Paula began her musical studies at the age of five at the Musical Conservatory
"Santa Madre Rosselo" in Osasco, São Paulo, being admitted later at the important
"Conservatório Dramático e Musical de São Paulo", where she had classes
with the violinist Antonio Tórchia and became his assistant. In the year of 1992 she
went to Sofia, Bulgaria, where she registered at the Sofia State Academy of Music as a
pupil of the virtuoso violinist Angel Stankov. There she was also taught by Georguita
Nikolova, one of the most important authorities in Chamber Music in Europe. She continued
her studies with Evgenia-Maria Popova. In Brazil she attended specialized courses and
masterclasses with Natan Schwartzman in the University of São Paulo.
She performed as a violinist and
soloist in several orchestras and chamber groups in Brazil and Europe, in various
different configurations, with Celeste Patarra (piano), Márcio Gonçalves (piano),
Lúcia Bismara (piano), Márcia Bertti (piano), Éder Levy
Marques (oboe) and Ricardo Simões (classical guitar). She has performed several
premieres of contemporary composers, such as Ricardo Simões and Bruno Basseto.
As the Júpiter string quartet's first violin, a group created in 1997 and
specializing in contemporary music, Paula makes CD recordings and has
performed many concerts in São Paulo.
She has performed as soloist in
several concert halls, such as the Municipal Theater of São Paulo, São
Pedro Theater, Artur Rubinstein Theater, Cacilda Becker Theater, Museu da Imagem e
do Som, Circolo Italiano de São Paulo, Sociedade Cultura Inglesa, Centro Cultural
São Paulo, Centro Cultural do SESI/FIESP and in many other Brazilian cities, such as
Sorocaba, Marília, Piracicaba, Bragança Paulista, Jaú, Tatuí
and Limeira.
In parallel with her
activities as a violinist, she is developing important educational work in the
reformulation and revitalization of music teaching in Brazil, employing her own teaching
methods, in various institutions where she teaches courses in instrumental
performance and music theory.
