O modo mais fácil de instalar e configurar sua placa
de som no Linux é através do utilitário sndconfig.
Esse utilitário grava as configurações da placa no
arquivo /etc/conf.modules. Mas nem sempre isso
funciona sem provocar conflitos em outros dispositivos.
Se for o caso, execute o sndconfig seguido do parâmeto
noprobe. Dessa forma as configurações não serão
detectadas automaticamente permitindo que você as
selecione. Ou ainda se você preferir. Edite o arquivo /etc/conf.modules
e inclua as seguintes linhas:

Confira se as configurações estão corretas. Você
pode fazer isso comparando com as configurações do
Windows. Para testar se há algum problemas digite modprobe
sb, depois modeprob opl3 e se você tiver
placa de rede, execute modeprobe ne. Caso apareça
algum erro durante a execução edite o arquivo /etc/isapnp.conf.

É importante ler com atenção cada linha e
descomentar as configurações que estejam compatíveis
com os dispositivos do seu computador. As linhas
parecidas com (INT 0 (IRQ 3 (MODE +E))) ou (IO 0 (SIZE 8)
(BASE 0x02a0)) são as configurações possíveis. Veja
que cada seção representa um recurso PNP encontrado e
que há várias configurações possíveis. É necessário
ter conhecimento da mais apropriada. Recomenda-se que
seja a mesma do Windows. Para que a configuração tenha
efeito é necessário também descomentar a linha (ACT Y).
Grave, saia do arquivo e execute novamente os
comandos modeprob. Se você possuir placa de rede
é recomendável que você a configure antes de
configurar a placa de som. Haverá menos chance de
conflito.
